Life @ Fish & Richardson
Perhaps the most unique aspect of Fish & Richardson is our philosophy of collaboration. It affects everything we do. From our nationwide video-conferencing to our cross-staffed cases, there's an amazing capacity here to get and give expertise.
When we obtained a 32.3 million dollar jury verdict for our client Power Integrations in a patent infringement case against Motorola ®, the case was staffed by attorneys from our Silicon Valley, Delaware, and Twin Cities offices.
And when we successfully defended Microsoft ® against a five-patent attack on its renowned and popular Natural ® ergonomic keyboard, we involved attorneys from our San Diego and Silicon Valley offices. What's more, depositions were held in San Diego, Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C.
On the corporate side, attorneys from our Boston, Dallas, New York and San Diego offices recently represented Fair Isaac Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange company, in several acquisitions, including its acquisitions of Narex, Inc. and Diversified HealthCare Services, Inc.
We maintain our preeminence in intellectual property and technology litigation and offer an expanding range of services to our market-leading and developing technology clients, including corporate transactions and deals, complex litigation, literary representation, and regulatory counseling.
But that's just part of it.
It's not by accident that we staff some of the nation's top attorneys. We carefully select and recruit top talent. We hire people who like to work. People who are excited. And then we do something really shocking. We encourage them. We take an active role in their career development.
Litigation associates at all levels are given important responsibilities. They argue dispositive motions, take depositions of experts and key inventors, take the lead in Markman hearings, and examine witnesses at trial. Junior associates meet clients and help form case strategy. We encourage associates to attend NITA courses, and our NITA-certified principals conduct in-house training.
Our patent prosecutors have client contact immediately. Associates handling prosecution matters take full responsibility for client and inventor meetings, portfolio strategy, and advocacy before the Patent Office, including examiner interviews. The firm has also created its own Patent Boot Camp, a series of intensive two-day seminars on practical patent skills. Associates from all offices gather to attend these in-house training programs taught by F&R principals.
Corporate associates have early exposure to the entire deal process. Junior associates have immediate client contact and heavy involvement with transactions, including drafting significant documents and attending meetings and negotiations.
And at the foundation of all this, is close mentoring between principal and associate.
Don't take our word for it. Contact one of our recruiters and see for yourself.
