The Internet of Things: The Law and Challenges of Emerging Technology
The Internet of Things has rapidly emerged as an exciting category of technologies, services, and devices that have become almost ubiquitous in our everyday lives. From "smart" refrigerators to security cameras to wearable fitness trackers, the Internet of Things revolution has taken the world by storm. According to some estimations, tens of billions of these interconnected devices will have been sold by 2020. Along with the unprecedented expansion of these technologies has arisen a host of new legal questions. What is the Internet of Things anyway? How are interconnected devices affected by Cybersecurity regulations? How do businesses protect themselves against risks associated with the proliferation of these technologies? Our distinguished panel will discuss these questions, the nature of the Internet of Things and the practical legal issues that have arisen from their proliferation.
