Pharmaceutical patents have proven to be a highly effective incentive for groundbreaking innovation. However, corresponding drug prices have long been an animating issue in American law and policy. Many proposals to lower the cost of prescription drugs have been put forward over the years, but one of the most effective is the Hatch-Waxman Act and the legal framework it established for the relationship between branded and generic drugmakers.

On February 22, please join attorneys Christina Brown-Marshall and Dexter Whitley as they present "Hatch-Waxman 101," the first program in Fish & Richardson's 2024 Hatch-Waxman webinar series. Christina and Dexter will:

  • Introduce the Hatch-Waxman Act
  • Explore the policy preferences underpinning the Act
  • Discuss the drug approval process, including requirements and timelines
  • Examine how regulatory exclusivities work

This webinar will serve as an accessible introduction to those who have limited experience with the Hatch-Waxman Act, and it will provide a foundation for the more advanced discussions in subsequent webinars in the series.
