From contested intellectual property matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to strategic counseling on patent portfolio management and licensing, Joshua Griswold advises on all aspects of IP law. He brings the unique and well-rounded perspective of a skilled practitioner with deep experience in patent procurement, enforcement, and defense.

Josh excels on all fronts, representing clients in contentious IP battles in U.S. District Courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has successfully handled numerous reexamination and post-grant proceedings, applying his technical savvy in arguments for his clients in infringement and validity disputes in courts across the nation. Josh also serves as the office managing principal of Fish’s Dallas office.

Clients also rely on Josh to help them develop worldwide patent portfolios. He brings a unique, litigation-informed perspective when crafting patent procurement strategies and offers sage portfolio management advice regarding excluding competitors, pursuing enforcement, and monetizing IP assets through licensing deals.

With a practice that spans the lifecycle of intellectual property, Josh helps clients understand and navigate the IP landscape as they bring new products to market, build strong patent portfolios, and divest low-value assets. When companies and IP change hands, Josh applies his extensive experience in technology assignment and licensing agreements to help his clients transform their aspirations into reality.

Josh brings firsthand experience in mechanical engineering as a former engineer who designed subsea oilfield completions and robotics. He has extraordinarily broad and deep experience in mechanical, electrical, and software innovations, including:

He is a critical member of the Fish team that designs and presents the firm’s internal training programs on patent prosecution, due diligence, licensing and agreements, and IP disputes.
