Since 2017, members of the Fish & Richardson Pro Bono team worked with co-counsel to challenge the unfair enforcement of of ordinances that penalize San Diego residents who depend on their vehicles as their only form of shelter. In October 2024, U.S. District Court Judge Anthony Battaglia approved the class action settlement which provides substantial relief and policy changes aimed at protecting the rights and dignity of unhoused individuals in San Diego.
In a series of interviews with local San Diego media, Associate Madelyn McCormick details the seven-year legal battle and emphasizes the significant impact the settlement will have on the city’s unhoused residents.
