Fish & Richardson Named 2018 Delaware Regional Powerhouse by Law360
Fish & Richardson has been named a 2018 Delaware Regional Powerhouse by Law360. Fish was one of five firms recognized as part of Law360's annual regional Powerhouse series, which selects firms based on their significant accomplishments in the region over the past year. This is the second consecutive year that Fish has been named a Delaware Regional Powerhouse by Law360.
Fish is among a handful of leading firms handling high profile patent cases - with billions of dollars often at stake - in the crucial jurisdiction of Delaware. From July 2017 to July 2018, Fish completed 51 cases in the District of Delaware.
In what has been hailed as one of the biggest litigation comebacks of all time, Fish's elite trial lawyers won a motion for Judgment as a Matter of Law that reversed a $2.5 billion jury verdict - the largest patent damages award in history - against client Gilead Sciences in an ongoing dispute involving Gilead’s patents on its multi-billion dollar hepatitis C drugs Sovaldi® and Harvoni®.
Fish also scored an important win for Microsoft against Parallel Networks, a well-known patent assertion entity. Fish defeated Parallel Networks' attempt to overturn a May 2017 jury verdict that Microsoft did not infringe two webpage loading patents. The judge also denied Parallel Networks' request for a new trial, ending litigation that had begun in 2013.
Other notable wins include a case for LG Electronics that involved a large portfolio of patents related to Wi-Fi, and a shareholder derivative suit for Oribe Canales in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Fish has a growing practice handling corporate and technology disputes in the Chancery Court.
