Fish & Richardson Jessica Detko and Pat Ewald Named 2020 Unsung Legal Heroes by Minnesota Lawyer

Fish & Richardson announced that Jessica Detko, patent paralegal, and Pat Ewald, legal talent data analyst, have been named 2020 "Unsung Legal Heroes" by Minnesota Lawyer. The award recognizes the most talented and dedicated legal support professionals in Minnesota. Unsung legal heroes are selected for "showing great dedication and doing great work; consistently going above and beyond." There will be a virtual awards ceremony on September 9, 2020.

Detko is part of an elite team of four paralegals that make up Fish's first post-grant paralegals specialty team. Post-grant proceedings were first introduced in 2012 under the America Invents Act and enable companies to challenge the validity of competitors' patent claims at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Detko was a leader from the beginning - learning the novel legal nuances, implementing successful office procedures, streamlining processes, and getting the practice up and running.

Ewald works in the Legal Talent group, supporting the Professional Development, Diversity & Inclusion, Legal Recruiting, and Pro Bono teams, among many other teams. She created and maintains a strategic database of critical data Fish needs to monitor and maintain. Her extensive, highly accurate data is used for new business pitches, hiring efforts, quarterly reporting for both internal and external requests, a variety of diversity surveys, and client requests.
