Fish & Richardson Receives Top "Band 1" 2019 Rankings for Intellectual Property and ITC Practices from Chambers Global
Fish & Richardson received top "Band 1" rankings in the U.S. for its Intellectual Property (IP) Patent practice and its International Trade Commission (ITC) practice in the Chambers Global 2019 rankings. The "Band 1" designation is the highest ranking possible and means that Fish has been identified as among the world's best law firms based on in-depth, objective research with thousands of lawyers and clients. According to Chambers, Fish is known for its "stellar litigation group that continues to be among the most prolific in trial, appellate and administrative patent proceedings," and "enjoys a fine track record for its work before the ITC."
Several Fish principals also received top Band rankings in the IP category in Chambers Global 2019. The "fantastic" Juanita Brooks was noted as "a true trial litigator" and "a staple in our industry." "Dean of the patent bar"Ruffin Cordell "is a highly esteemed trial attorney with a renowned IP litigation practice." The "highly reputable" DJ Healey was called "a top practitioner (who) always impresses." Michael McKeon was praised for his "really strategic, high-quality advice - he’s always thinking three steps ahead of where the litigation may go." In addition to ranking in the IP category, both Cordell and McKeon also received Band 1 rankings in the ITC category.
Fish's global IP patent litigation practice provides strategic counseling, litigation and prosecution for clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations to world-renowned academic and research institutions. No firm in the world can match Fish's winning track record in intellectual property trials - in district court, at the ITC and at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In 2018, Fish won 14 patent cases in district courts and 23 patent cases at the Federal Circuit, and successfully resolved over 300 other patent cases. Fish has been the most active firm at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) for the past three years. The firm's world-class ITC team handled nearly 17% of all new ITC patent investigations in 2018 and has been involved in more than 125 ITC investigations since 2000.
The Chambers Guides have been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, and now cover 190 countries across the world. Inclusion in Chambers is based solely on the findings of its research teams, who conduct extensive, confidential interviews with thousands of lawyers and clients to identify the leading law firms and lawyers worldwide. Individual lawyers are ranked on the basis of their legal knowledge and experience, ability, effectiveness, and client service. Law firms are ranked on the same qualities, as well as overall effectiveness, capability, and recent work. Rankings are grouped in bands from 1-6, with 1 being the best.
