Fish & Richardson Receives Top "Band 1" 2015 U.S. Rankings for Intellectual Property and International Trade from Chambers Global
Fish & Richardson announced today that it received top "Band 1" rankings in the U.S. for its Intellectual Property (IP) patent practice and its International Trade Commission (ITC) practice in the Chambers Global 2015 rankings. The "Band 1" designation is the highest ranking possible and means that Fish has been identified as among the "world's best" law firms based on in-depth, objective research with thousands of lawyers and clients.
Fish's global IP practice provides strategic counseling, litigation, and patent prosecution for clients ranging from some of the world’s largest corporations to individual inventors and innovators. As the largest IP firm in the U.S., Fish has more than 400 IP attorneys and technology specialists around the globe including 80 Ph.D.'s on staff and almost 300 attorneys with technical/science degrees.
For the past 11 consecutive years, Fish has been ranked by Corporate Counsel as the #1 patent litigation firm in the U.S. for handling more patent litigation than any other firm - with nearly twice as many patent cases than the nearest competitor in the most recent ranking. Fortune 500 clients hire Fish for their most complex, bet-the-company IP litigation because the firm knows how to win the largest cases with billions of dollars and whole businesses often on the line.
Fish's elite patent prosecution practice was ranked the #1 most active law firm at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) for 2014 - representing clients in 154 PTAB post-grant proceedings in 2014 - by Managing Intellectual Property magazine in February 2015. Fish has created interdisciplinary teams of patent prosecutors and litigators to handle these "hybrid" matters, which is part of what makes the firm so successful. Post-grant proceedings are now used in concert with federal court litigation and ITC actions and have fundamentally changed the way patent disputes are resolved.
Fish is also the #1 firm practicing at the ITC with the most cases filed in 2014 according to a recent survey by The National Law Journal. Fish handles about 15 percent of all active patent cases at the ITC each year, and brings a multidisciplinary approach to ITC proceedings, drawing on its expertise in patent law, litigation, and licensing of intellectual property rights.
The Chambers Guides have been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, and now cover 185 jurisdictions throughout the world. Widely considered to be the most reputable directories in the world, inclusion in Chambers is based solely on the findings of its research teams, who conduct extensive, confidential interviews with thousands of lawyers and clients to identify the leading law firms and lawyers worldwide. Law firms are ranked on the strength and depth of their practice including technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client. Law firms are ranked in bands from 1-6, with 1 being the best.
