Fish & Richardson Supports Client Enercap Holdings on Path to Build World’s Largest Supercapacitor Manufacturing Capacity

Fish & Richardson client Enercap Holdings, a Dubai-based supercapacitor energy storage manufacturer, has finalized a joint venture with Apex Investments PSC to build the largest supercapacitor energy storage manufacturing capacity in the world. The project is intended to help meet an exponential growth in demand for energy storage.

Fish Principal Usman Khan, Ph.D., led the team that supported Enercap Holdings’ pursuit of global intellectual property (IP) rights by conducting diligence studies and managing Enercap’s global patent and trademark portfolios.

“We are thrilled to support Enercap Holdings in this groundbreaking venture in supercapacitor energy storage, which represents a significant step forward in advancing sustainable energy solutions,” said Khan. “Enercap’s vision is revolutionary, and their IP assets are indispensable to their mission to develop and deploy a new storage paradigm. We are proud to contribute to their success and look forward to continuing to support their advancements.”

Supercapacitor energy storage delivers storage solutions that are long-lasting, degradation-free, fast-charging, cost-effective, fully recyclable, and safe. The benefits of supercapacitor storage are driving demand and accelerating the adoption of supercapacitors in the automotive, renewable energy, and consumer electronics sectors.

Through this collaboration, Enercap Energy Holding Limited, the joint venture, will establish a fully automated 10 GWh/year manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, Enercap Energy Holding Limited has agreed to acquire an existing manufacturing facility in Dubai Industrial City, which will be upgraded to 6 GWh/year capacity. Enercap has a current global demand of over 30GWh of large-scale battery energy storage units.

“We are delighted with the joint venture with Apex, which will accelerate our growth throughout the world and expand our product portfolio to deliver solutions in every application where storage is deployed,” said Waseem Ashraf Qureshi, CEO of Enercap Holdings and the inventor of the technology that underpins Enercap’s systems. “We appreciate Fish & Richardson’s counsel and support in navigating a cutting-edge and complex IP landscape while we continue to advance the future of energy storage.”
