Fish & Richardson Welcomes Eleven Associates in the First Half of 2024

Fish & Richardson is pleased to welcome eleven accomplished associates who joined the firm during the first half of 2024. 

Megha Bansal: Bansal focuses on the protection and enforcement of copyrights and trademarks across various industries, including beauty, fashion, entertainment, and technology. In her previous role as a trademark attorney for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Bansal examined federal trademark applications for compliance and researched and drafted Trademark Trial and Appeal Board briefs and office actions. Bansal received her B.A. in economics from the University of Louisville and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School. 

Madison Colon: Colon concentrates her practice on patent litigation in the life sciences, energy, and chemicals industries. She clerked for Chief Circuit Judge Kimberly A. Moore on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Andrews in the District of Delaware. As a law student, she was the online managing editor of the Iowa Law Review and co-president of the Intellectual Property Law Society. Colon received her B.S. with highest distinction in chemical engineering from the University of Iowa and her J.D. with highest distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law. 

Jamie Cutler: With a focus on trademark and copyright prosecution and counseling, Culter’s experience spans a range of sectors, including luxury, retail, beauty, entertainment, and hospitality. Her background in U.S. and international trademark prosecution and maintenance enables her to assist clients with applications, renewals, clearances, and enforcement. Cutler received her B.S. cum laude in design and merchandising from Drexel University and her J.D. from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.  

Ryan Fitzpatrick: Fitzpatrick concentrates his patent prosecution practice in the mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software arts. He works across a wide range of technologies, including agriculture, aerospace, automotive, manufacturing equipment, and medical devices, among others. Fitzpatrick holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. 

Jenna Kuh: With an electrical engineering background, Kuh focuses her patent litigation practice on District Courts and the International Trade Commission. She has experience with wireless communications standards, signal processing, semiconductors, and software applications, among many others. Kuh also has extensive experience in patent counseling, infringement analysis, and patent prosecution in high-tech fields. Kuh received her B.S. summa cum laude from George Mason University and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School.  

Alexander Mazza: Mazza concentrates his practice on life sciences patent litigation, particularly in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Before joining Fish, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a lawyer representing the U.S. as a prosecutor and representing victims of violent crimes as a victims’ attorney. Prior to law school, he coordinated industry-sponsored and physician-led clinical trials. Mazza received his B.S. in biology from Siena College and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.  

Hunter Morrissey: Morrissey assists clients in creating and protecting their trademarks. Before joining Fish, he was a trademark examining attorney for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he examined U.S. and international trademark applications, analyzed compliance with procedural and statutory requirements; and resolved trademark prosecution issues with outside counsel and pro se applicants. Morrissey received his B.A. in criminal justice from San Francisco State University and his J.D. from the University of California College of Law, San Francisco.  

Girish Ratanpal, Ph.D.: Ratanpal prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering industries, leveraging his background in electrical engineering. He has experience in a wide array of technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, semiconductor devices, and computer networking, among many others. He received his B.E. in industrial electronics from Pune University, his M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the State University of New York and University of Virginia, respectively, and his J.D. from Suffolk University School of Law.   

Taylor Reeves: Reeves focuses her practice on patent litigation in the energy and chemicals industry. She clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Gregory B. Williams in the District of Delaware. She also served as an intern for the Honorable Thomas I. Vanaskie on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and as an extern for U.S. District Court Judge Christopher J. Burke in the District of Delaware. Reeves received her B.S. cum laude in chemistry from Ithaca College and her J.D. from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.  

Cameron Ubel: Ubel focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications related to medical devices, software, artificial intelligence, electrical hardware, network devices, and semiconductors. He also has prepared arguments for patent prosecution in many foreign jurisdictions, including Europe, China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Ubel received his B.S. in biomedical engineering and M.S. in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and a J.D. cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School.  

Ran Wang: Wang focuses on patent prosecution and counseling related to telecommunications, semiconductors, machine learning, and autonomous vehicles, among others. He also conducts ex parte appeal proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Before beginning his legal career, Wang was a computer software and hardware engineer. He received his B. Eng. in communication engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in China, his M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.B.A. from HEC Paris, and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.
