Fish & Richardson Wins Wrongful Termination and Breach of Contract Suit for Fresenius

San Diego, CA, February 6, 2015 - The law firm of Fish & Richardson has successfully defended its long-term client, Fresenius USA, in a suit filed by Fresenius' former president of research and development, Moshsen Reihanifam. On January 30, a jury ruled for Fresenius in Reihanifam v. Fresenius Medical Care North America, et al., denying Reihanifam the $29 million he sought in damages.

Reihanifam's claims included discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and breach of contract. Fresenius argued that all of the claims were baseless.

The jury returned the verdict for Fresenius in less than two hours of deliberations.

"We are very pleased for Fresenius and to have had their continued trust in handling many of their legal issues," said Juanita Brooks, a principal at Fish & Richardson based in the firm's Southern California office, who has handled multiple litigation matters, including patent disputes, for Fresenius. "The plaintiff's concerns in this case were ruled to be unfounded, with no wrongdoing by Fresenius."

Assisting Brooks were Betty Chen, a principal in the Fish's Silicon Valley office, paralegal Donna Rousseau and legal assistant Louie Perez.
