John Adkisson Re-Elected to Second Term as President & CEO of Fish & Richardson
John Adkisson has been re-elected to serve a second four-year term as president & CEO of Fish & Richardson, a global intellectual property law firm with 14 offices in the U.S., China, and Germany. Adkisson was first elected to the role in February 2020 and has successfully led the intellectual property firm through the COVID-19 pandemic and into record success.
“Fish is distinguished by our unparalleled client representation, technical expertise, and people-first culture. I am honored that my colleagues have entrusted me to continue leading the firm forward,” said Adkisson.
Under Adkisson’s leadership, Fish achieved the highest revenue in the firm’s history at $512 million in 2022. Fish also maintained its position as the national market leader in IP, handling more patent cases and appeals, as well as securing more patents, than any other national firm. The firm built and strengthened its remarkable bench of next generation talent, with 51 litigators standing up at trial in 2023, and numerous attorneys developing extensive prosecution and trademark practices. In addition, attorney and operational staff retention outpaced the industry average.
“Thanks to the resilience of our people, Fish flourished and emerged from the pandemic stronger and more adaptable,” said Adkisson. “I am proud of our collective successes over the past four years.”
As president & CEO, Adkisson oversees the firm’s global operations and is responsible for the leadership, direction, growth, profitability, and culture of the firm. In his second term, Adkisson plans to further strengthen Fish’s best-in-class client service, invest in the development and success of the next generation of talent, and provide strategic leadership to protect and grow Fish’s legacy as a premier IP firm.
“I have unbridled optimism for the future of Fish. We have dozens of talented lawyers building vibrant practices and securing client victories, our most experienced attorneys championing their success, and we practice in a market filled with exciting and challenging opportunities.”
In addition to re-electing Adkisson, the principalship has re-elected Principal Jay Kugler DeYoung to her seat on the Board of Directors. Global Head of Litigation Corrin Drakulich, Global Head of IP John Hayden, and Principals Lisa Greenwald-Swire and Mike McKeon were re-elected to the Management Committee. Principals Martina Hufnal and John Goetz will serve two-year terms on the Compensation Committee, and Principal Jeremy Monaldo was re-elected to the Finance Committee.
