National Law Journal  Names Principal Daniel Tishman a D.C. Rising Star

Fish & Richardson is proud to announce that Principal Daniel Tishman has been recognized as a D.C. Rising Star in the National Law Journal’s 2024 Legal Awards. The Rising Stars list honors the Washington, D.C., region’s most promising lawyers under age 40 who have wielded influence in their practice areas.

Mr. Tishman represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex patent litigation in U.S. District Courts and before the International Trade Commission. He has asserted and defended infringement claims in multi-patent cases involving wide-ranging technologies and has participated in nearly a dozen trials, achieving favorable verdicts and settlements involving consumer electronics, batteries, semiconductors, hybrid electric vehicles, and more. His recent work includes helping represent LG Chem and LG Energy Solution in a high-stakes, multi-jurisdictional dispute over lithium-ion battery technology used in electric vehicles. The matter culminated in a $1.8 billion settlement awarded to Fish’s client in 2021. In 2022, he played a significant role at trial for a Fortune 100 consumer electronics company as part of a multi-billion-dollar global dispute against Ericsson that settled shortly after trial.  Mr. Tishman is also active in the Eastern District of Texas, where he has represented Samsung and LG Energy Solution in numerous high-stakes cases.

Outside of his patent litigation practice, Mr. Tishman is dedicated to pro bono causes, particularly those concerning workplace discrimination and immigration. For example, with the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, he co-led a landmark workplace discrimination pro bono case that ultimately reversed a District Court decision and led to a favorable outcome for his client, who was awarded $725,000 in damages. He also serves as pro bono coordinating attorney for Fish’s Washington, D.C., office, supervising the office’s pro bono efforts.

According to the National Law Journal, recipients of the D.C. Rising Stars award are selected for their demonstration of strong leadership qualities, their innovative approaches to the practice of law, and their significant community impact.

Award honorees will be recognized at an event in Washington, D.C., on October 24.
