Overview

As Fish & Richardson’s general counsel, Elham Dehbozorgi serves as the chief legal adviser to the firm’s leadership, attorneys, and professional staff.

Elham oversees the firm’s legal affairs and provides strategic counsel on risk management, professional responsibility, and regulatory compliance. Drawing upon over 17 years of experience in law firm risk management, she ensures that the firm’s practices operate in accordance with applicable rules of professional conduct. Elham is also a member of the firm’s operating committee, providing strategic legal guidance and risk-based perspective on firm operations and governance.

In addition, Elham leads the firm’s Risk Management and Conflicts teams. In this role, she is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the firm’s client and new matter intake, conflicts analysis, regulatory and legal compliance, and records compliance. 

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, she was general counsel of an intellectual property law firm in Washington, D.C., and was previously an attorney in the office of the general counsel for two different Am Law 50 law firms.  

Industry leadership 

Outside of the firm, Elham is a member of the District of Columbia Bar's Legal Ethics Committee, a group leading the charge on many of the most critical ethical issues facing the legal industry. She is also a frequent speaker on emerging issues of ethics and professional responsibility that impact the legal profession, including cybersecurity and the ethical use of generative artificial intelligence tools.  

Personal Interests 

In her free time, Elham enjoys traveling to spots around the world with her family, running in Rock Creek Park, and playing a good round of Wordle.
