Patent lawyer John Conroy, Ph.D., is registered to practice before both the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. Maintaining a two-continent practice, he helps clients secure patents and achieve the greatest value for innovations in both the U.S. and Europe.
John focuses on patent prosecution and opposition proceedings in the areas of semiconductors, electronics, nanotechnology, medical devices, software, and materials engineering. With a clear understanding of both U.S. and European law, he helps clients protect their ideas outside the U.S. without endangering their U.S. rights.
John excels at identifying legal issues and risks. By tailoring a patent portfolio to the client’s market and competitive environment — as well as to jurisdictional peculiarities — he helps clients optimize the value of their entire IP portfolios and gain a competitive edge.
With a Ph.D. in bioengineering, John first worked as a research scientist at the University of Virginia before joining Fish & Richardson, where he worked for 11 years. Then he went in-house as managing counsel at Power Integrations, a publicly traded Silicon Valley-based innovator of high-performance, energy-efficient integrated circuits. He rejoined Fish in 2015, bringing the insider’s perspective he gained in that role.
John was a Fulbright Scholar and attended the German Federal Military Academy, Munich, Germany.
