Mitsi Blount, Ph.D., provides patent prosecution and portfolio management services to clients in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries.
Mitsi’s legal experience includes conducting freedom-to-operate, due diligence, and patentability analyses for startups, pharmaceutical companies, and venture capital funds. Large-cap pharmaceutical companies have relied on Mitsi to manage their global patent portfolios, with a focus on antibodies and large molecule therapeutics. She has also conducted damages analyses for potential infringement of CRISPR technologies and large molecule therapeutics.
With over 16 years of research experience in pharmacology and physiology at top-tier research universities, Mitsi is well equipped to understand and protect her clients’ complex technologies. She has drafted and prosecuted patent applications spanning a wide breadth of biomedical and life sciences technologies, including pharmaceuticals, drug design platforms, diabetes therapeutics, immunotherapies, nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems, biocompatible agents for optical imaging, xenotransplantation, and nanomaterials for batteries and anodes.
Before beginning her career in law, Mitsi was an assistant professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Her research program focused on renal regulation of water homeostasis, and she has authored over 40 peer-reviewed research manuscripts.
