Ryan Steinman handles a broad range of trademark and copyright matters, from brand consulting and prosecution to enforcement and litigation, enabling him to support his clients through the entire IP lifecycle.

A problem-solver by nature, Ryan’s clients rely on him as a highly responsive single point of contact for any trademark or copyright issues they may encounter. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive experience in brand consulting, trademark clearance analysis, domestic and international trademark prosecution, enforcement, and litigation. He is particularly sought after for his expertise representing trademark owners in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings in the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Ryan also frequently advises clients on domain name and social media disputes and related takedown proceedings.

Ryan works with clients across industries including consumer products, computer hardware and software, hospitality, entertainment, fashion, financial services, media, pharmaceuticals, and retail.

In addition to his trademark and copyright work, Ryan maintains an active pro bono practice representing low-income artists and cultural institutions. He also assists LGBTQ individuals facing a range of legal concerns, including guardianship and immigration issues. He was previously awarded Immigration Equality’s Safe Haven award, granted to outstanding advocates for LGBTQ individuals who are seeking asylum.

When not practicing law, Ryan enjoys travelling, participating in fitness races and competitions, and spending time with his son.

Successfully defended major insurance company in a cancellation proceeding before the TTAB, which led to a favorable decision after trial.

Successfully defended famous spirits company in a trademark infringement litigation in the Central District of California, which granted the client’s motion for summary judgment on all claims. (Representation prior to joining Fish)

Represented numerous well-known brands in countless ICANN domain name dispute proceedings that led to favorable judgments.
